This beautifully crafted donburi bowl features the kikyou (bellflower) crest, famously associated with the samurai Akechi Mitsuhide. Decorated in classic blue sometsuke style, it is made in Mino, a region tied to Mitsuhide’s legacy, offering a quiet connection to Japanese history.
At five sun (approximately 15 cm), it’s an ideal size for everyday use — not too big, not too small — perfect for donburi, udon, soba, ramen or as a versatile serving bowl. The kikyou, a flower loved by the Japanese since ancient times and mentioned in the Manyoshu, symbolises eternal love, elegance, and purity.
As every piece has its handmade features, slight irregularities in size, glaze, colour, and texture might occur and reflect the nature of the artisan product.
