This striking donburi bowl is adorned with the kikyou (bellflower) crest, a motif once used by the samurai Akechi Mitsuhide. Finished in a refined silver-glazed black, it is handcrafted in Mino, the region tied to Mitsuhide’s legacy — a quiet homage to centuries past.
Measuring 16 cm in diameter, it’s just the right size for daily use — perfect for rice bowls, udon, soba, or as a stylish serving bowl. The kikyou, a flower loved by the Japanese since ancient times and featured in the Manyoshu, symbolises eternal love, elegance, and purity.
As every piece has its handmade features, slight irregularities in size, glaze, colour, and texture might occur and reflect the nature of the artisan product.
